You do not need business class or airline status to use a lounge at Istanbul Airport (IST). The airport's own IGA Lounge sells day passes that any traveller can buy, either pre-booked online through IGA Pass or as a walk-in at the door, subject to space. A day pass is widely reported to cost around €115 for up to six hours, though you should treat that figure as indicative until you confirm it. This guide covers IST, Istanbul's main airport — not Sabiha Gokcen (SAW).
Why an independent view matters
Most lounge "guides" online earn a commission on every booking, which shapes what they recommend. We take nothing. The honest summary: a paid lounge at IST buys you a quieter seat, food and drinks, showers and Wi-Fi — it does not fast-track security or passport control, and at peak times even a large lounge can feel busy. Whether it is worth it depends on your layover length and how much you would otherwise spend in the terminal.
Pay-to-enter lounge options at Istanbul Airport
The headline option is the operator-run IGA Lounge in the international terminal, sold directly via IGA Pass and also reachable through paid memberships such as Priority Pass and DragonPass (where day-pass holders and members may face different maximum-stay rules). A separate IGA Lounge serves the domestic area at a lower price point. Availability, exact locations and rules vary, so check what is open in your terminal on the day.
| Lounge / access | Who can use it | Indicative price* | Typical max stay |
|---|---|---|---|
| IGA Lounge (international) — day pass | Any traveller, walk-in or pre-booked | Around €115 per adult | Up to ~6 hours |
| IGA Lounge via Priority Pass / DragonPass | Members of those schemes | Per your membership terms | Often ~3 hours |
| IGA Lounge (domestic) | Any traveller | From roughly €40 per adult | Check on the day |
| Children / seniors | Reduced rate | Discounts reported (e.g. children 7–12, seniors 65+) | As above |
*Prices, durations and discounts are indicative and change frequently — treat them as unconfirmed until checked against the primary source, then verify officially on IGA Pass before you book. We could not load the operator's live price page at the time of review, so these figures come from secondary sources and should be confirmed directly.
How paid access usually works
- Pre-book a slot online through IGA Pass for a guaranteed space, or walk up and pay at the door if there is room.
- A day pass typically allows a maximum stay (commonly cited as up to six hours), while membership-scheme entries may be shorter.
- Lounges are airside, so clear security and passport control first and leave time to reach your gate — IST is large and walks can be long.
Best for whom
- Long layovers (4 hours or more): IST is a major Turkish Airlines hub with long connections, so a quiet seat, showers and refreshments can genuinely pay off.
- Overnight or early-morning connections: somewhere comfortable to wait when the terminal is busy around the clock.
- Short connections (under 90 minutes): usually not worth it once you account for the walk and security.
- Budget travellers: the day-pass price buys a substantial meal in the terminal instead.
Because lounge prices and access rules change often, confirm directly with the operator before you travel: IGA Pass (official) and the Istanbul Airport site. See also our Istanbul Airport Wi-Fi guide and Istanbul Airport transfers guide. Last reviewed: June 2026.
