For value, the new LAX/Metro Transit Center plus a Metro train is now the cheapest way into Los Angeles — a free shuttle from your terminal, then a Metro fare from about US$1.75. The FlyAway bus is the simplest one-seat ride to Union Station, a taxi is fastest door-to-door at a fixed downtown flat rate, and rideshare is convenient but the airport fees are rising.

What changed at LAX in 2026

Two big shifts matter. First, the LAX/Metro Transit Center opened in June 2025, connecting Metro's C Line and K Line to the airport via a free shuttle bus that runs between the transit centre and every terminal. Second, the long-awaited Automated People Mover (APM / SkyLink) is still in testing as of June 2026 with no confirmed passenger opening date — so today you still use the free shuttle, and taxis and rideshare still pick up at the LAX-it lot. Verify the APM's status and any new rideshare fees officially before you travel, as these are changing.
